The winning essays were reviewed by four panels of judges. A special thank you goes out to the panel of our finalist judges:

The student essays responded to the following prompt, in 500 words or less:
A liberal arts education is characterized by the idea that understanding many different ways of knowing can help students learn how to be effective and responsible members of their communities. Choose a current controversial issue in your community and describe how you've come to understand that issue from different perspectives.
