Facilitator Bio’s
Jiana Stover, M.S.
Jiana Stover is the Science Outreach Coordinator for the Gonzaga Science in Action! Program. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Studies and her master’s degree in Geology from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Jiana discovered her passion for helping students of all levels discover their enthusiasm and confidence in science during time as a TA in grad school. Jiana is passionate about science education and has 7+ years of experience working in science outreach.
Amanda Braley
Amanda Braley has taught at Gonzaga University since 1999. As a Laboratory Specialist, She covers a wide range of topics including diversity of life, plant biology, ecology, physiology, and microbiology. In 2012, the Howard Hughes Medical Institute trained Ms. Braley to teach their undergraduate research program called SEA-PHAGES. In the fall of 2012, Gonzaga University transitioned all of their freshman biology laboratory experiences to the authentic classroom research model. She earned her Master of Science in Plant Biology in 1994 and her Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences in 1991 from the University of California, Davis.
Christy C. Andrade, Ph.D.
Christy in an Assistant Professor in the Biology Department at Gonzaga University. She earned her BS in chemistry from Northern Arizona University and her PhD in microbiology from the University of California – Davis. Christy has a passion for teaching with active learning strategies in her courses. One of her central passions is to improve access to inquiry-based science education for all K-12 students. She is very excited to find a partner to collaborate with and apply for support through the Murdock “Partners in Science” Program.
