Second Harvest has Mobile Markets that serve the Spokane community. These mobile markets are drive-through, first-come first-served, and no documentation is required. Boxes may include fresh produce, meats, and nonperishables. Visit their webpage and scroll down to Mobile Markets to find where and when their current mobile markets are being held.
 

What is it?  

 

The Basic Food Program also known as SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program I.e. Food Stamps) is a State program that provides low income families and individuals with the ability to purchase healthy food. Students may now be eligible to receive benefits from the Basic Food Program because of a temporary federal rule change.  

 

Who is eligible?  

 

To apply for food assistance through Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) a student must meet at least ONE of the following eligibility requirements.

  • Be eligible for a State or Federal Work Award Program 
  • Have a $0 Estimated Family Contribution (EFC)
  • Be working 20+ hours a week in a job  

Meeting the above-mentioned eligibility requirements does not guarantee food assistance through DSHS, and that determination of eligibility is up to DSHS.

How can a Student apply?


What will a student need when they apply?  

Students who apply will be asked to provide documentation. Each application is treated on an individual basis. The list provided below are documents that a student may be asked to provide. Examples of documents that may be requested include the following;  

 

1.      Proof of ID 

a.       Driver’s license or state ID  

b.      Passport  

c.       Permanent Resident Card  

d.      Social Security  

2.      Proof of financial eligibility for work study or EFC (students were emailed an eligibility letter) 

3.      Proof of income (any income from a job or otherwise) 

a.       Located under Earning’s History in Zagweb for students employed by the university  

4.      Proof of student status (like a school schedule) -This is rare. But available to you in Zagweb should it be requested, or the student can request enrollment verification from the Registrar’s Office.  

 

 

 
Spokane Valley Partners have Mobile Food Banks that anyone can visit. Individuals will drive through the mobile food bank and volunteers will place food into your car. All individuals are required to provide name, address, and basic data information on a form. All are welcome, first-come, first-serve!
