The Gonzaga Guarantee
(Please note: Restrictions apply for a small number of special programs. For more information, please contact the Office of Financial Aid.)
Get Started
- All students who complete the Application for Admission are automatically considered for one of several need-blind scholarships, no separate application forms are required.
- Criteria for the scholarship include difficulty of curriculum, grade point average, extracurricular activities, recommendations, quality of writing in the application, optional SAT or ACT test scores, and optional interview.
- Gonzaga is 'test-optional'. You do not need to submit and SAT or ACT to be considered for merit scholarships.
- First-Year scholarships are guaranteed for four years (applies to entering freshman and first-year transfers entering with less than 30 semester credits).
- Transfer scholarships
- Students entering with 31-59 transfer credits are guaranteed scholarship for up to 6 semesters.
- Students entering with 60+ transfer credits are guaranteed scholarship for up to 4 semesters.
- Students offered a merit scholarship must be admitted to the University, enrolled in 12+ credits each term, and maintain good academic standing to guarantee continuous scholarship. For more information, please refer to the Gonzaga Guarantee Policy.
- 98% of applicants receive a merit scholarship based on the review of their application for admission. Students are notified of their scholarship through an acceptance packet sent in the mail.
- We encourage all applicants to submit a Financial Document to Gonzaga University. Filing either the FAFSA, WASFA, or Needs Analysis Form may qualify students for other institutional, state, and/or federal funding.
- If you are a US Citizen or Green Card holder please file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible. Gonzaga's Federal School Code is 003778.
- If you are a Washington resident but are unable to file the FAFSA due to immigration status we encourage you to file the WASFA (Washington Application for State Financial Aid) as soon as possible. As a result of the Washington REAL Hope Act becoming law, applications for state need grants are now accepted. The WASFA is specifically for low-income, undocumented students that attended a Washington high school who are not able to file the FAFSA.
- If your immigration status does not allow you to file the FAFSA and you do not live in Washington State, we encourage you to file the Needs Analysis Form and submit it to: finaid@gonzaga.edu. This may qualify you for additional Gonzaga financial aid. The Needs Analysis Form only needs to be completed once during a student’s enrollment.
- The FAFSA/WASFA will be available starting October 1.
- Financial Aid Filing Priority Consideration Dates
- First-year students - December 1 (submissions are welcomed after December 1)
- Transfer students - March 1
