Why are you in admissions at Gonzaga?
Like many others, I first heard about Gonzaga because of the incredible basketball team we have. I soon found out that Gonzaga had so much more to offer in professional, and more importantly, personal development for me. My experience here helped shape who I am now and how I see the world around me, along with giving me lifelong friends in the process. I am thankful for the opportunity to help guide and be a resource for prospective students as they consider GU to be their next home.
Where is your favorite place on campus?
The Grotto right next to St. Al’s is my favorite spot on campus. It is such a peaceful spot to take a few moments to just sit and reflect. A close second, for very different reasons, is the Hemmingson Center. I love that there is a place on campus where I can grab lunch and stumble into a great conversation with a friend or colleague every time you walk through the doors!
What is your favorite thing to do in Spokane?
I’ve always enjoyed being so close to downtown Spokane and in particular, Riverfront Park. It’s hard to beat the views and atmosphere on a run down to the park on a warm spring or summer day! There are also a lot of opportunities to golf in the surrounding area that come at a very reasonable price.
What is one piece of advice you have for prospective students?
The biggest piece of advice I have for prospective students is to figure out what you value and are looking for when it comes to your college education. What may be a fit for a friend, or another student, may not be the best fit for you. While these can be difficult questions to answer on your own, the best way to figure this out is to visit the school (if possible) and ask questions! Admission counselors at any university will be a great resource to answer any questions you may have and also give you information on not only the culture of the school, but opportunities and programs that you may not have known existed!
